I tried to improve the gear of my warband in 1.4.1:
Often I go to a shop with one guy to sell loot (let's say a heerbaan), but then I see a good item (in this example a sword) and I think: could one of my colleagues (in this example trustimannes or hundsridans) make use of this ...
so I note the stats of the sword -> go back to warband management -> look at the stats of my buddies -> see: yes, it is better -> click on trade again -> buy/sell the equipment -> equip it
obviously this is quite complicated and not userfriendly; I could write down at least the stats of the worst equipment of every class used beforre hitting the shop (perhaps you want to promote this style of playing like in the 90s), but most modern games offer a possibility to compare items in shop with items of party(warband)-members.
