Hello,
I don't know if it is a really a Suggestion, a bug, just the intended mechanics of the game or just misunderstanding from me:
a) if a enemy is flanked from 2 sides in melee: is flanking from opposite direction better than from 2 adjecent directions ? (From my experience I would say no, but I think it should be … perhaps it is just a Feeling and the hard Code speaks different )
b) do ranged attacks Count as flanking if done from different direction than melee attack(s)? (I think they should - if engaged in melee and someone shoots me in the back, I cannot block the shot -but I guess from experience they don't)
bb) do ranged attacks Count as flanking, if done from other direction then previous ranged attack(s)? (They should; else shields are wonderweapons against tribes like the huns who (I think) relay on archery)
Best Regards
Majo

a) Directions do not matter for now, but in the future, flanking a unit from the back will be more effective than the sides. The problem is more about coding and balancing than something else.
b) They should, and they will in the future, and it will be probably used in conjunction with object cover, such as houses and trees.
bb) All attacks will count as flanking or not depending on the direction the unit is facing, based on the arrow below them. Side-flank shots will have little effect from shielded units, but we'll make it so it is slightly better than shooting from the front. Shooting from the back will negate cover from shields, which will make horse archers much more effective in flanking and using ranged attacks.
